Soulmates

Updated: Mar 13, 2020

I've decided to choose this fragment of the episode 3x11 - "Coffe & Commitment", from the old "Will&Grace" TV series to start this post.

I really liked this show in my teens and I'm rewatching it now because I like how natural and expressive all the characters are. I love the complicity, friendship and love between them, and how every problem or situation is showered with freshness, positivism and humour.

The childish behaviour is one of my favourite things. We lose part of it in our adulthood, and I'm not saying that we should keep behaving that way, but it makes it a very simple and direct way to express our emotions, don't you think? And plus, it is a good laugh!

It also has been one of the most successful television series with gay principal characters, and as most of you know, anything that supports acceptance and love in all its forms (in this case helping the the LGBT+ community), has my support.

So here's this excerpt from the episode, where Will&Grace read together what a soulmate means for them, for their weddings' friends. I think it's beautiful and very deep, especially since it's coming from a comedy.

Love,

Marta

Will&Grace - "Coffe & Commitment"

WILL: “When I’m feeling like there's no love coming to me…”

GRACE: “And I have no love to give."

WILL: “When I'm feeling separated from the world...”

GRACE: “And cut off from myself."

WILL: “When I’m feeling annoyed by every little thing…”

GRACE: “Because I’m not getting what I want… I’ll remember that there is an infinite amount of love available to me.”

WILL: “And I’ll see it in you.”

GRACE: “I’ll remember that I am complete within myself…”

WILL: “So I’ll never have to look to you to complete me.”

WILL and GRACE: “And most of all, I’ll remember that everything I really need I already have, and whatever I don’t have will come to me when I’m ready to receive it.”
